Poland’s PGNiG asks Gazprom to reduce price for Russian gas

WARSAW, Oct 28 (PRIME) -- Poland’s state oil and gas company Polskie Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo (PGNiG) has sent a letter to Russian gas giant Gazprom asking it to reduce the price of gas delivered to Poland, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The new letter supplements PGNiG’s November 2020 request to revise the price of gas supplied under the Yamal Contract signed by the two countries in 1996.

PGNiG CEO Pawel Majewski said as quoted by the company that the reason for the request was the unprecedented growth of gas prices on the European wholesale market. The company thinks that there was space for reduction of Gazprom’s price, Majewski said.
